The Story Behind ish

Hi, I'm Katie Kasten, a yogi, turned twerk-choreo dancer who's obsessed with all things movement and now Founder of ish.

I grew up in a deeply conservative household and town where freedom of expression - especially through a woman’s body- was discouraged. For years, I felt disconnected from myself, my femininity, and didn’t know who I was because of it.

That all changed when I found a dance yoga class at nineteen. The practice freed my voice and, for the first time, I felt what it meant to be connected: mind, body, and spirit. I can say, with full confidence that movement saved my life - and I’ve devoted my entire existence to helping others experience that same freedom and joy.

Why I Created ish

As I began teaching yoga, dance, and pilates I could never find clothes that truly supported the kind of movement that lit me up.

The shorts I wore were either too compressive - designed to make women smaller - or so loose that they slipped and stretched out mid-class.

And I thought, why does everything in the fitness world focus on looking good instead of feeling good?

I wanted something that celebrated movement in all its forms - something that felt like a second skin. So I created ish: high-quality, non-toxic activewear that breathes, supports, and moves with you - not against you.

Our Philosophy

We’re redefining what it means to move. Our pieces are made with eco-lux materials, crafted by an all-female design team, and created with the belief that movement should liberate - not limit. No harsh compression. No shrinking yourself to fit a standard. When you wear ish, we hope you exhale. We hope you feel seen, supported, and reconnected to the part of you that’s always been free.

What ish Stands For

Innovation. Spirituality. Health.

These three pillars shape everything we create - from design to sourcing to the energy behind every launch.

ish is for the woman who doesn’t put herself, or her movement, in a box.

She shakes. She flows. She owns it.

Move how you want. Feel how you’re meant to. That’s ISH.
